Faux Chalkboard Menu : Bar / Signature Drink

I’m on a faux chalkboard menu kick– this time it is a menu for our bar and includes the ingredients for our signature cocktail and signature (non-alcoholic) mocktail! (Check out the other faux chalkboard menu I made for the buffet here.
Our reception does not have a built-in bar, so we had to supply the alcohol, hence the reason to list the items that the bartenders have on hand. My mom and sister do not drink, so my mom created a signature “mocktail” that is non-alcoholic, and I created a signature cocktail that has all my favorite ingredients in it!

Italian Soda {Recipe}

I have always hated the taste of seltzer, I don’t know what it is, but even the smell of it made me want to gag. My parents, on the other hand, love it, and my mom recently discovered a “white chocolate” flavored seltzer. I tasted it, and it was actually palatable (for me!). I remembered having seen a recipe for Italian Sodas, and what caught my eye was how downright beautiful the drink is, but then when I saw the main ingredient was seltzer, I immediately dismissed it thinking I wouldn’t like it, but now that I found this white chocolate seltzer, I gave it a try again!
This really is a refreshing, low calorie (when compared to normal soda) drink that not only looks beautiful but tastes great! We’ve been looking for a non-alcoholic “signature drink” for our wedding and this might be it! (Stay tuned for the regular “signature drink” recipe– now that I can’t wait to start trying!)

Italian Soda Recipe

Italian Soda Recipe
– 8-10 oz seltzer (any flavor, but I love the white chocolate)
– 1 T flavored syrup (I used shaved ice syrup I found at Target with the ice machines- I went with cherry, but you can pick any flavor of your choosing. You could also use the coffee syrups that they sell in a variety of flavors. Feel free to mix and match!)
– 1 T half and half
– {optional} whipped cream and cherry for garnish

Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour 1 T of your flavored syrup over the ice, then pour the seltzer into the glass. Stir well to mix the syrup into the seltzer. Before serving, slowly pour 1 T of half and half over the top and watch the magic begin! Garnish with whipped cream and a cherry if you wish.

Serves 1

Considering the seltzer has 0 calories, the only calories come from the syrup and half and half, and they’re only 1 Tablespoon each, so it’s not that much!
